Spanish motorcycle brand MACBOR has officially announced its entry into the 2027 Dakar Rally, marking the first time the company will compete with its own team. The ambitious project will see experienced rally rider Gerard Farrés return to the motorcycle category after his last appearance on two wheels in 2018.
The announcement comes ahead of EICMA 2026, where MACBOR will make its fourth consecutive appearance at the Milan International Motorcycle Show. Both milestones highlight the company’s growing international ambitions and commitment to adventure motorcycling.
MACBOR Enters the 2027 Dakar Rally with Gerard Farrés
The 2027 Dakar Rally, scheduled for January 1–15, will represent a significant milestone for MACBOR. After several years supporting Gerard Farrés as a sponsor in the Side-by-Side category, the Spanish motorcycle manufacturer is taking its involvement to the next level by entering the motorcycle competition with its own team.
For Farrés, the event will mark his 20th Dakar Rally appearance and a highly anticipated return to two-wheel competition. The Spanish rider previously secured a podium finish in the motorcycle category in 2017 and finished second in the Side-by-Side category in 2022, bringing valuable experience to MACBOR’s new racing project.
MACBOR Prepares for Dakar 2027 with Two Moroccan Rallies
Before heading to the Dakar Rally 2027, MACBOR and Gerard Farrés will participate in two preparatory events in Morocco. The first is the 1000 Dunas Raid 2026, featuring six stages across the Moroccan desert between Fez and Merzouga. The event will provide an opportunity to improve navigation skills and adapt to challenging off-road terrain.
The team will also compete in the Addax Rally, scheduled for October 25–30, 2026, in Merzouga. Covering approximately 1,600 kilometres, the competition will feature sandy stages, rocky tracks and demanding sections around Erg Chebbi, helping the team refine its roadbook navigation and race preparation.
EICMA 2026: MACBOR to Showcase Its Latest Motorcycles
Alongside its Dakar Rally ambitions, MACBOR is preparing for EICMA 2026 in Milan, marking the Spanish motorcycle brand’s fourth consecutive appearance at the international exhibition. The company will host a press conference on November 4, 2026, at 9:40 AM in Hall 7, Booth 144, where it plans to present its latest innovations and reveal its future motorcycle lineup.
MACBOR’s participation in EICMA 2026 and the Dakar Rally reflects a broader strategy to strengthen its position in the global motorcycle market. While specific new motorcycle models have not yet been confirmed in the announcement, the exhibition will provide an important platform for the brand to communicate its upcoming product plans.
MACBOR Expands Its Presence Across European Motorcycle Markets
MACBOR currently operates in 15 European markets, with Spain, France and Portugal among its most established territories. Over the past two years, the company has expanded into additional markets, including Benelux, Poland, Switzerland and the Baltic States, reinforcing its international growth strategy.
The Spanish manufacturer views its participation in the Dakar Rally and EICMA motorcycle show as complementary opportunities to increase brand visibility. By combining motorsport involvement with new motorcycle development and international exhibitions, MACBOR aims to reach a wider audience of motorcycle enthusiasts.
